Arglwydd arwain [drwy'r / trwy'r] anialwch

Guide me O thou great Jehovah

1,(2),5;  1,3,4,(5,6,7);  1,4,5,(6,(7));
 1,4,5,7,(6);  1,4,7;  1,5,7.
Arglwydd, arwain trwy'r anialwch,
  Fi, bererin gwael ei wedd,
Nad oes ynof nerth na bywyd
  Fel yn gorwedd yn y bedd:
    Hollalluog,
  Ydyw'r Un a'm cwyd i'r lan.

Os agori im' dy fynwes,
  I gael gwel'd y cariad llawn,
Lifodd allan fel y moroedd
  Ar Galfaria un prydnawn:
    Ti gai'r cwbl,
  Roddaist imi yn fy rhan.

Myfi grwydrais hir flynyddau,
  Ac heb weled goleu'r wawr,
Anobeithiais heb dy allu
  Dd'od o'r anial dir yn awr!
    Dere dy hunan,
  Dyna'r pryd y dof i maes.

Colofn dân rho'r nos i'm harwain,
  A rho'r golofn niwl y dydd;
Dal fi pan bwy'n teithio'r manau
  Geirwon yn fy ffordd y sydd:
    Rho i mi fanna,
  Fel na bwyf yn llwfwrhau.

Agor y ffynhonnau melus
  Sydd yn tarddu o'r graig i maes;
'R hyd yr anial mawr canlyned
  Afon iachawdwriaeth gras:
    Rho i mi hynny,
  Dim i mi ond dy fywnhau.

Pan bwy'n myned trwy'r Iorddonen
  Angeu creulon yn ei rym,
Ti 'est trwyddi gynt dy hunan,
  P'am yr ofnaf bellach ddim?
    Buddugoliaeth,
  Gwna imi waeddi yn y llif!

Ymddiriedaf yn dy allu,
  Mawr yw'r gwaith a wnest erioed:
Ti ge'st angau, ti gest uffern,
  Ti ge'st Satan dan dy droed:
    Pen Calfaria,
  Nac aed hwnw byth o'm côf.

Lord, lead me through the wilderness,
  Me, a poor, sick pilgrim,
I don't have strength or life in me,
  Like lying in the grave:
    Omnipotent,
  Is the one to raise me to up.

If thou wouldst open to me thy breast,
  To get to see thy full love,
Which streamed out like oceans
  On Calvary one afternoon:
    Thou wouldst have everything,
  Thou gavest me as my lot.

I wandered for long years,
  And without seeing the light of the dawn,
I lost home without thy power
  To come from the desert land now!
    Come thyself,
  That is the time to come out.

A pillar of fire give by night to lead me,
  And give the pillar of fog by day.
Hold me when I will be travelling places
  Which are rough along my way:
    Give me manna,
  So that I shall not faint.

Open the sweet fountains
  That flow out from the Rock;
Throughout the great desert following
  A river of free salvation:
    Give me this,
  Only for me to enjoy thee.

When I shall go through the Jordan
  Cruel death in its power,
Thou hast gone through it thyself before,
  How shall I fear not henceforth?
    Victory,
  Make me shout in the flood!

I will trust in thy might
  Great is the work thou hast done of old:
Thou hadst death, thou hadst hell,
  Thou hadst Satan under thy feet:
    Summit of Calvary
  It will never leave my memory.

Lord, lead through the wilderness,
  Me, a pilgrim of wretched condition,
Grant me strength and merit
  Until I lie in my grave:
    Almighty,
  Hold up my weak soul.

Open the sweet fountains
  Which spring out from the rock;
All along the great desert let it follow
  The river of the salvation of grace:
    Let me drink,
  Forever from these lively streams.

A pillar of fire place by night to lead me,
  Give a cloud of fog by day;
Keep me whenever I travel the rough
  Places which are in my path:
    Keep my vision,
  Daily towards the delightful land.
tr. 2008,15 Richard B Gillion

Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah,

  Pilgrim through this barren land.

I am weak, but Thou art mighty;

  Hold me with Thy powerful hand.

    Bread of heaven,

  Feed me now and evermore.

Open now the crystal fountain,

  Whence the healing stream doth flow;

Let the fire and cloudy pillar

  Lead me all my journey through.

    Strong deliverer,

  Be Thou still my strength and shield.

When I tread the verge of Jordan,
  Bid my anxious fears subside;
Death of death and hell's destruction,
  Land me safe on Canaan's side.
    Songs of praises,
  I will ever give to Thee.

Lord, I trust Thy mighty power,
  Wondrous are Thy works of old;
Thou deliver'st Thine from thraldom,
  Who for nought themselves had sold:
    Thou didst conquer,
  Sin, and Satan and the grave.
